The children also amazed us with their descriptive language, using exciting wow words like splish”, “splash”, and drip to describe the movement of water. Their enthusiasm, creativity and growing confidence with new vocabulary really shone through this week.

In maths this week, we have been building numbers to 20 and beyond. The children had great fun working with their talking partners, sorting picture representations of different numbers and counting carefully together. It was wonderful to see strong teamwork and confident number recognition developing.

We have also been exploring measuring using non-standard units. Using Unifix cubes, the children measured a variety of objects in our garden — and even measured their own feet and shoes! This hands-on learning helped the children compare lengths and understand measurement in a practical and engaging way.

Well done to Reception for showing excellent counting skills, cooperation and curiosity in maths this week!

Next week our topic will be about the ‘Seas and Oceans’. We will also be looking forward to dressing up as ‘Romans’ to celebrate our Humanities Day on Tuesday!
